3288?

Michigan boasts 3,288 miles of coastline (as of 2000). When looking for an appropriate title we went back and forth for a couple of weeks, trying out variations on “coast,” “dune,” “lake,” “sunset,” “river,” and other Michigan-oriented words and phrases. Then someone looked at an almanac, and there it was.

Our Place In the World

The literary journal landscape is in a constant state of flux. New journals appear every year and old journals go on hiatus or cease publication.

There are well over a thousand literary journals published in North America. The majority of them are associated with colleges and universities, as Master’s Degree projects or through university presses.

Michigan hosts well over a dozen journals, most through the various universities. They draw their considerable talent either from the student body or from the literary community at large.

The 3288 Review is more specifically focused on writers and artists from (or associated with) West Michigan. We accept submissions from current and former residents of the greater West Michigan area, as well as frequent visitors and others who can claim familiarity or a meaningful relationship with our beautiful region of the state.
